Each publication contains an essay presenting the creative achievements of the composer or period in question, and the contribution they made to European culture. A second essay presents the visual arts of the composer's times. These volumes have a uniform and interesting design, and each comes with a CD of music by the given composer, performed by outstanding Polish artists. The character of these publications allows the music of the composer or period to be presented against the background of general trends in art at the time, with a special focus on the visual arts.
Serie "Portraits", a series devoted to great people of the Polish music scene. In this series, the Institute has published volumes on:

The Adam Mickiewicz Institute has also issued many smaller publications on music, including brochures and leaflets on Polish contemporary music, jazz, opera as well as publications related to concerts and presentations of Polish music as part of large promotional projects.
