POLISH THEATRE SHOWCASE

5 April 2011
NOWY WSPANIAŁY ŚWIAT
Warsaw

Polish Theatre Showcase - the annual presentation of Polish theatre to foreign guests - ended last week. The event was organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of the Warsaw Theatre Meetings. This year, due to Polish Presidency in the EU, the festival was accompanied by the first meeting of the theatre network East European Performing Arts Platform which gathers theatre and performance artists, theatres and dance centres from 18 countries in Central and Eastern Europe (Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldavia, Georgia, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo). Its primary aim is to launch a platform for real cooperation between artists from those parts of Europe by means of integration, educational programmes (for curators, producers and dramatists), residencies (for artists) and the promotion of their work among curators from Western Europe.

During the first meeting of the Platform, which took place in Warsaw, talks were focused on joint projects, plans and dreams. The plan of action for the East European Performing Arts Platform is now ready and its first convention will be held in Krakow in October.
